My son is a week and half old and only wakes once a night, is this normal?

I nurse him, and he eats about every 2-3 hrs during the day. Sometimes I need to wake him, and other times he is hungry all day long. In the hospital he wouldnt eat so he got jaundiced, so we were giving him formula and nursing. The jaundice is gone, he has at least 6-8 wet diapers a day and poops at least 3 or 4 times a day, and his poop is mustardy and seedy like they say it should be. He was almost back up to his birth-weight at his check up the day after we came home. Is it ok that he only wakes once a night to eat? He usually sleeps from 11-3 and then 4-7, although last night he slept from 11-430 and then slept from 530-830. Should I be waking him more, or just consider myself lucky? Everyone is telling me that he will let me know when he is hungry and to just let him sleep. Has anyone else experienced this? It isnt effecting my milk either. (sidenote) we do still give him 2 oz of formula at bedtime...this may be why he is held over longer. (please no lectures on nipple confusion)
